A Review of TANGLED, the movie, by ArleneNY (winner of our first raffle)

Well as the winner of the first raffle from The Tales of Two Latinas, I am happy to report that I loved the movie Tangled and yes, my children are 20+ years old and I still watch Disney movies.

I don’t believe it follows the plot of the Brothers Grimm original version; however, it is definitely the story of ...Rapunzel hair and all. There’s a brief clip of her as a baby to set the story, but it really picks up a few days before her 18th birthday, when she gets the courage to ask Gothel, wicked witch, to leave the tower so that she can get a closer look at the mysterious lights that appear in the sky each year on her birthday. Of course, Gothel refuses but as fate would have it an encounter with thief Flynn Rider gives Rapunzel the opportunity to leave and decides to take a chance.
On the journey to the Festival of Lights she meets thieves, scoundrels and thugs, but the major theme that comes through is that everyone deserves a second chance, and even thieves and thugs can be reformed.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this movie’s humor and music (even though there was no really big memorable song). The heroin is adventurous, quick witted, learns the value of independence and, of course, finds love along the way. You definitely don’t have to be a kid nor have kids to enjoy an entertaining, uplifting movie from Disney.
