OCTOBER - FALL AND HARVEST TIME ARE HERE! OCTUBRE LLEGO EL OTONO Y EL TIEMPO DE COSECHA!!

OCTOBER is here!! Wow, I always think of Harvest time, Apple Cider, Apple Pies, Foliage, and Hay Rides THEN all of a sudden, its an explosion of Holidays from Halloween through New Years.

I love when September rolls around because I know the leaves will be turning to various types of beautiful fall colors and that milder weather is coming. I personally, cannot stand August with all the Heatwaves!

However you and your family celebrate the Fall and all its beauty and goodies, I hope you are blessed and enjoy yourselves to the fullest.

We try to enjoy the foliage (enjoy the beauty of nature), the yummy apple pies, crumb cakes, and cider, and best of all the mild weather to the fullest.

It's always a feeling of planning for yummies and beauty and holidays along with family and friends. A time to share and reconnect.

Many blessings and much joy this Harvest season! I know there are good times ahead for all of us. :)

Life...it happens! Son cosas de la Vida! :)

Hi, everyone!

I just wanted to share a few happenings in my life.  Lately, I have been so overwhelmed with LIFE!  My fiance's mom had major corrective surgery on her back, then my mom had quadruple bypass surgery all in the same month.  Thankfully, they both are recovering well, but SHEESH, I felt like I was going to lose it.  I was being "spread thin" between the two mothers, my regular home workload, being there for my fiance, daughter and even the dog, being a friend and a full-time student.  Not to mention, I'm still unemployed and looking for a job!

I know most of you can identify with my circumstances of late.  We have to wear so many hats that we, at times, can get not only TIRED but confused and just wanting a moment where you didn't have to do anything for anyone or worry about what to do next!  SOME ALONE TIME PLEASE, or how about just some deep sleep (as opposed to broken or 2 or 3 hours of sleep).

As with everything in life, these things also will pass but sometimes the end seems so FAR!  All we can do is continue on and pray that we make it to the end of the tasks at hand.

So in conclusion, I say know that no good deed goes unrewarded and that we are here to serve just as our Lord came to serve.  If we give our all, we will, in the end receive ALL.  Besides we REAP what we SOW don't we?!  Some greater good has to come from all this sacrificed effort :)

Hang in there!

GO FOR IT!! CHANGE IS GOOD! -- EL CAMBIO ES BUENO, HAGALO!

As a single mom, I can say life is very challenging at times.  As most of you know, I became unemployed almost a year ago (May makes one year).  I was used to making the bucks since I worked as a Legal Assistant in New York.  This month, thanks to a dear old high school friend, I found a part-time WAH (work-at-home) position which allows me to supplement my very budgeted funds and attend school.  I started attending an Institute to earn a certification in Medical Billing last Monday (a 9-month program).  I had been anxious, especially about my first test, and I think over-killed the studying a bit!  But, as you can imagine, I feel very pressured to succeed, as this may very well be my only way of earning money to survive!  Granted, it will not be anything close to the finances, the family is used to, but it sure will be more than the unemployment insurance is providing right now  :)   So, I am HAPPY to report that I got a 100% in my first exam WOOOOOOOOOOOOOHhhhhhhoooooooooo...God is good!  Just proves, you are never too old to learn, or go back to school or even change careers!  So for those of you struggling, or unhappy or just contemplating a change in careers, GO FOR IT!!!  You can do it!

Ciao!  I hope to report more successful results and also hope to inspire others as well.

SI SE PUEDE (YES WE CAN)!

Work, work, work and more work!

Try as I might today to try and blog something, I found that I had to struggle to find the few minutes to think and write!  I guess this is a woman's life.  With work, school, children and spouse or significant other, one must be a Professional Juggler!!

This got me thinking about my Aunt's poem and how she stated that we, women, are so complicated.  This is definitely due to the many hats that we wear.  At times it is confusing or hard to get off mommy mode, or we bring our work stress into family life.  These are no-no's and we know this deep down, but don't you find yourselves having an awful day at work, and even more upsetting commute home and then we walk in the door and "ugh, look at this living room!, why are there dishes in the sink?, the dog has pooped or peed on the floor," and you haven't even taken off your coat or put down your purse!  It's like we come in and we survey the whole house in one swoop and the result is more aggravation.  My scenario was, I'd have a fit, then put my coat and purse down, put my hair in a ponytail and find I have to clear the sink and counter tops in order to start cooking!  Then, you know who, is there playing with the remote and here you are having to cook with your work clothing still on!  Being a Latina, I guess I was just born dramatic and hot-tempered.  Try as I may, either I blow up or get a headache from keeping my mouth shut.  Thank God I believe and have faith, if not, I'd go nuts.  In all this mayhem, I look up towards the Heavens and ask God to help me calm down or de-stress me just a bit so I can feed my wonderful family.    Because after all, I love to cook and do love them to pieces even though they drive me nuts!

Recently, I lost my job because of our wonderful economy and just ruthless administration too.  Funny enough I was not even distraught.  I was RELIEVED!  I guess God, finally answered my prayer of de-stressing!  Careful what you ask for, people always say.  Thankfully though, I got unemployment insurance, took a long overdue vacation (years) and reconnected with my wonderful family in Puerto Rico which I hadn't seen in 10 years!!  I relaxed, got my tan, and returned to the States with a new attitude.  I since have been going to school, just found a part-time job which I can have flex hours and best of all, I work at home, and have more family time and much less anger.  I still have stressful moments but, my rhythm and attitude are different and I now realize how miserable I was before. I also find that music soothes my soul.  Just today, I was all uptight about the calls I took and the tempermental customers! After I was done, I immediately turned to the first source of music I found.  I thanked God for this blog...for it has the link to one of my favorites, Marc Anthony, and it soothed the "savage beast" I had inside roaring to come out. Hearing him sing and hearing the wonderful percussion, wind, and string instruments.  I was able to let all the bad stuff out, breathe evenly, and RELAX.  The moment was over, thank God!

Soo...with all this said, how do you all deal with stress, wind down or do you have any thoughts of life changing events you may want to take place?  Please share with us!

With a whole new outlook on life, I bid you till the next time...hasta luego!
